I’m Maria, the artist behind ColorKreme. My work revolves around sketching real-life moments—people, places, and fleeting scenes that often go unnoticed. Inspired by daily routines and familiar surroundings, I use drawing as a way to document emotions, memories, and time.

Art has always been my form of therapy and storytelling. Through this blog, I share my sketches, creative process, and thoughts behind each piece, hoping to inspire others to slow down, observe, and find beauty in simplicity.

Pastels

Pastels are a vibrant medium that blend the richness of drawing and the softness of painting; I find their colors mesmerizing and easy to work with, bringing a uniqueness to my artwork that other mediums often lack. The smooth application allows me to layer hues seamlessly, creating depth and dimension in my pieces. My experience using pastels has taught me the importance of control and technique; whether I’m softly smudging to create a dreamy background or applying bold strokes for a striking focal point, each mark adds to the overall emotion of the work. The tactile nature of the pastel sticks and their vivid pigmentation inspire me to explore and express my creativity in ways I never imagined.

Colored Pencils

I love using colored pencils in my artwork, as they allow me to create vivid details and rich textures that truly bring my pieces to life. The versatility of colored pencils enables me to blend colors seamlessly and achieve a range of effects, from soft gradients to sharp contrasts. As I layer different hues, I relish the ability to express my creativity and evoke emotions through my art. Each stroke of the pencil not only enhances my drawings but also serves as a meditative experience, allowing me to focus and escape into my imaginative world.
